MIMA I MILKMAID
There she stands, our minimalist Milkmaid, in the Dutch chiaroscuro of Vermeer. The original was once known under another name – Un Meyd die Melk Uytgiet.
We’ve tried to bring this classic work back into planes of color, using Vermeer’s well-known tones. The cool ultramarine blue of her apron forms a stunning contrast with the lead-tin yellow of her blouse. Vermeer knew exactly what he was doing.
